Famous Nigerian DJ and activist, Obianuju Catherine, known as DJ Switch, has challenged the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo amid the ongoing nationwide hunger protests.
iBuzz reports that the 10-day nationwide hunger protests tagged ‘EndBadGovernance’, highlighting Nigeria’s economic challenges, kick-started on Thursday, August 1 2024.
Before the demonstration, Asari Dokubo had warned the organizers not to bring the protest to his region, claiming their agenda doesn’t address the issues of the area.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had also threatened that Abuja would be unavailable for the protests.
Also, during a meeting with the security council in Abuja on Thursday, the first day of the protests, Wike, said there is intelligence suggesting that the protesters intend to destroy property.
However, in a reaction to Wike and Dokubo’s claims at the weekend, DJ Switch, a vocal Nigerian entertainer, challenged both men to appear in public and confront the protesters if they were not afraid.
The DJ who was among the organizers of the 2020 EndSARS protests in a post on her social media page, noted that the only solution to the people’s hunger is food and not violence or threats.
She wrote; “The only thing that can stop HUNGER is FOOD! Not guns, teargas, or threats from fat globs like Asari Dokubo and chicken feed Wike! I wonder why they are hiding now. Come outside let them eat you raw,” her tweet read,
