What Is The Braveheart About?

The Braveheart begins with Meher Kaur Dhillon, a lively young woman from Punjab who is deeply in love with Manav Sharma. Manav does not come from the wealthy or politically influential background Meher’s mother wants for her daughter, but Meher is willing to build a life with him.

Their relationship becomes even more serious when Meher discovers that she is pregnant.

For Meher, the pregnancy is connected to the man she loves. For her mother Kulwant, however, it threatens the future she has imagined for the family.

Kulwant is an ambitious and powerful village leader who wants Meher to marry into a wealthy, politically connected household. When she discovers Meher’s relationship with Manav and her pregnancy, she refuses to accept their future together.

That decision sets almost everything else in motion.

The Braveheart Full Story

Meher Falls in Love With Manav

At the beginning of the story, Meher and Manav are genuinely in love.

Manav hopes to build a respectable career, but Kulwant sees him as financially unsuitable for her daughter. She is far more interested in what Meher’s marriage can do for the family’s status and political ambitions.

When Meher becomes pregnant with Manav’s child, Kulwant becomes desperate to end their relationship.

Rather than allowing Meher to choose her own future, Kulwant attacks Manav and throws him into a river, believing she has killed him.

Meher is devastated.

She believes the man she loves is gone, but she is still carrying his child.

Kulwant immediately begins planning another future for her daughter.

Why Does Meher Marry Sarabjeet?

Kulwant arranges for Meher to marry Sarabjeet Singh Gill, a wealthy widower with strong political influence.

Sarabjeet has already suffered loss in his own life. His first wife is dead, leaving him to raise their young son Param.

Kulwant sees the marriage as ideal. Sarabjeet has wealth, status and political connections, and Meher’s marriage to him could strengthen Kulwant’s own ambitions.

Meher initially has little interest in marrying Sarabjeet.

Her main concern is protecting the unborn child she conceived with Manav.

Eventually, she agrees to the marriage because it offers her baby protection from Kulwant.

This means Meher enters the Gill household carrying a secret that could change everything.

Meher Tells Sarabjeet She Is Pregnant

Meher does not allow Sarabjeet to remain unaware of the truth forever.

On their wedding night, she reveals that she is already pregnant with another man’s child.

Sarabjeet is shocked and angry.

Their marriage was already built on unusual circumstances, and discovering Meher’s pregnancy leaves him questioning what their future can possibly look like.

Yet Sarabjeet gradually proves that he is different from the people who have tried to control Meher’s life.

Instead of destroying her future, he eventually decides to protect both Meher and her unborn child.

At the same time, Meher begins developing a strong relationship with Param.

Meher Becomes Param’s Mother

Param is one of the biggest reasons Meher and Sarabjeet begin functioning like a real family.

Although Param is not Meher’s biological son, she develops a genuine mother’s love for him.

Param also becomes deeply attached to her.

Meher had once expected that she might eventually leave Sarabjeet and raise her unborn son separately, but her growing love for Param complicates that plan.

Sarabjeet sees how naturally Meher cares for his child, while Meher begins to discover a side of Sarabjeet that she did not expect.

Their arranged marriage slowly changes.

Respect develops first.

Then trust.

Eventually, Meher and Sarabjeet realise that they have fallen in love.

Does Sarabjeet Accept Meher’s Child?

Yes.

One of the most important parts of Sarabjeet’s character is his eventual decision to accept Meher’s unborn baby as part of his family.

Meher later gives birth to a son named Karan.

Biologically, Karan is Manav’s child.

But Sarabjeet takes responsibility for him and treats him as his own son.

The Gill family now includes Param and Karan, but not everyone accepts the situation as easily as Sarabjeet does.

His sister Harleen learns the truth about Meher’s pregnancy and Karan’s biological father, creating further tension around Meher’s place in the family.

The biggest shock, however, is still to come.

Manav is not actually dead.

Manav Returns as Vikram Diwan

The man Kulwant believed she had killed survived.

Manav eventually returns to the story, but he is living with a different identity after losing his memory.

He is now known as Vikram Diwan, a CBI officer.

His return creates an enormous problem for Meher and Sarabjeet.

Meher once loved Manav deeply and Karan is his biological child, but her life has changed completely since his disappearance.

She now loves Sarabjeet.

Manav’s reappearance therefore creates emotional as well as legal questions about Karan.

Eventually, Manav regains the truth about his past and discovers that Karan is his son.

Who Gets Custody of Karan?

Karan becomes the centre of a major custody conflict.

Manav has a biological claim to him, while Sarabjeet has loved and raised Karan as his own child.

Meher is caught between the father of her child and the man who became her husband and stood beside her when she had nowhere else to turn.

After the conflict is resolved, Karan remains with Meher and Sarabjeet.

Manav moves forward with his own life.

He becomes involved with Aditi, Sarabjeet’s half-sister, and the two eventually marry.

For a while, it appears that Meher and Sarabjeet may finally be able to enjoy the family they fought so hard to build.

That peace does not last.

Jagga Is Murdered and Meher Is Blamed

Another devastating chapter begins when Meher’s brother Jagga is killed.

Meher is accused of murdering him.

Sarabjeet desperately tries to help her, but he is unable to prevent her from being convicted and imprisoned.

This separates Meher from the family she worked so hard to protect.

It also leads the story into one of its biggest time jumps.

What Happens After the Five-Year Leap?

Five years pass.

After completing her sentence, Meher is living in Kashmir with her daughter Seher.

Sarabjeet, Param and Karan have spent time abroad before eventually returning to India.

Their paths cross again.

The reunion brings unresolved pain back to the surface, but it also gives Meher and Sarabjeet another chance to rebuild what was taken from them.

The truth about Jagga’s murder finally emerges.

The real killer is revealed to be Tarkash, the Gill family’s accountant, who acted because of an old grudge against Meher.

Tarkash is eventually exposed and imprisoned.

Meher’s name is cleared.

Meher and Sarabjeet Reunite

Once the truth surrounding Jagga’s murder is revealed, Meher and Sarabjeet finally reconcile.

Sarabjeet also accepts Seher and the family is reunited.

Another emotional revelation follows when Meher learns that her father, Trilochan Singh Dhillon, whom she had believed to be dead, is actually alive.

After years of betrayal, imprisonment and separation, it seems that Meher and Sarabjeet have finally reached a period where they can live peacefully with their children.

Instead, the story delivers its most devastating tragedy.

Do Meher and Sarabjeet Die?

Yes.

Meher and Sarabjeet eventually die following a serious car accident.

Before their deaths, their children Param, Karan and Seher are able to see them.

Their deaths close the central Meher-and-Sarabjeet chapter of The Braveheart.

The love story that began as an unwanted arranged marriage ends with the two having built a family that survives them.

Rather than ending the series there, The Braveheart moves forward into the lives of their children.

The Braveheart’s Generation Leap

The story jumps forward many years.

Param, Karan and Seher are now adults.

Seher becomes the main focus of the next phase of the series.

Although she grows up without Meher and Sarabjeet, their influence remains important to her identity. She carries the strength of her mother and many of the values associated with her father.

The next major love story begins when Seher meets Rajveer Singh Babbar.

Seher, Kunal and Rajveer

Rajveer quickly develops feelings for Seher.

Unfortunately for him, Seher is already in love with Kunal Malhotra and plans to marry him.

Rajveer’s powerful sister Harshdeep becomes deeply involved in what happens next.

Kunal is eventually killed because of Harshdeep’s actions.

Seher loses the man she intended to marry, while Rajveer’s feelings for her continue.

Circumstances eventually lead Seher and Rajveer into marriage.

Their relationship does not begin as a simple romance, but the two gradually develop real feelings for each other.

Rajveer later discovers the truth about his sister’s role in Kunal’s death.

Unable to continue supporting Harshdeep after what she has done, he leaves her and moves into the Gill household.

Do Seher and Rajveer Fall in Love?

Yes.

Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding their marriage, Seher and Rajveer eventually fall genuinely in love.

Their relationship becomes one of the main romances of the post-leap storyline.

Another complication comes through Khushi Bajwa.

Khushi had feelings for Rajveer and has a young son named Prince.

The truth eventually reveals that Prince’s biological father is Avinash Gupta rather than Rajveer.

After Khushi leaves, Seher and Rajveer adopt Prince and become his parents.

Their chapter eventually gives way to another generation of the Dhillon family.

Who Is Mannat?

Kulwant later reveals another long-hidden family secret.

Bittu has a daughter named Mannat from his previous relationship with Harnoor.

Because of social pressure and fear of scandal, Mannat had been kept away from the rest of the family.

Mannat grows up in Dalhousie with her mother.

Before Harnoor dies, she reveals the truth about Mannat’s connection to the Dhillons.

This discovery eventually brings Mannat into the lives of the Gill and Dhillon families.

Seher becomes determined to bring her into the family.

Mannat Meets Zorawar

During this phase of the story, Mannat meets Zorawar Singh Randhawa.

Zorawar is connected to Dolly’s side of the family.

Their relationship becomes the final major romance of The Braveheart.

Mannat initially enters the family while hiding parts of her identity, but the truth eventually comes out.

Kulwant discovers that Mannat really is Bittu and Harnoor’s daughter.

The rest of the family later learns the truth as well.

Mannat finally receives the family connection that had been kept from her for years.

But her romance with Zorawar brings another battle over who she should marry.

Why Does Kulwant Oppose Mannat and Zorawar?

Even after everything that has happened in the family, Kulwant still struggles with the habit of trying to control the marriages of younger women.

She wants Mannat to marry Nirvair.

At the same time, Dolly wants Zorawar to marry Scarlet.

Mannat and Zorawar are therefore placed in a situation that echoes some of the earlier conflicts in the series: two people want to choose each other while powerful family members attempt to decide their futures.

This time, however, the story moves towards reconciliation rather than another tragedy.

How Does The Braveheart End?

The Braveheart ends with Mannat and Zorawar finally being allowed to be together.

Zorawar openly tells Mannat that he loves her, and Mannat admits that she feels the same way.

Their families initially continue opposing the match.

Nirvair eventually steps away from the proposed marriage to Mannat, while the pressure surrounding Scarlet also falls apart.

Bittu stands up for his daughter and refuses to allow her happiness to be sacrificed.

Kulwant finally changes her position.

In the closing moments, the memory of Meher and Sarabjeet remains central to the family. Their presence is represented as Kulwant finally accepts that Mannat and Zorawar belong together.

Mannat and Zorawar receive the family’s blessing.

The series closes with the family gathered together for a photograph beside the portrait of Meher and Sarabjeet.

It is a fitting ending for a story that began with one mother trying to control her daughter’s future.

Years later, the family finally learns to allow a young woman to choose love for herself.

Who Does Meher End Up With?

Meher ends up with Sarabjeet.

Although she begins the series deeply in love with Manav, her life changes after Kulwant attacks him and forces Meher towards another marriage.

Meher’s relationship with Sarabjeet slowly grows from obligation into genuine love.

Even when Manav returns, Meher’s emotional life is now tied to Sarabjeet and the family they have created.

Meher and Sarabjeet remain together until their deaths.

Is Karan Sarabjeet’s Biological Son?

No.

Karan is Meher and Manav’s biological son.

However, Sarabjeet accepts Karan and raises him as his own child.

That relationship is one of the strongest examples of the show’s larger idea that family is defined by love and responsibility as much as biology.

Who Are Meher and Sarabjeet’s Children?

Sarabjeet has Param from his first marriage.

Meher becomes Param’s stepmother and raises him as her own child.

Meher gives birth to Karan, whose biological father is Manav, but Sarabjeet becomes his father in every practical sense.

Meher and Sarabjeet later have their daughter Seher.

Param, Karan and Seher therefore grow up as siblings and become the bridge between the original story and the generation that follows.

What Happens to Manav?

Manav survives Kulwant’s attempt to kill him.

He later returns as CBI officer Vikram Diwan after suffering memory loss.

Once his memories return, he discovers that Karan is his biological son.

The resulting custody battle creates serious tension, but Manav eventually allows Karan to remain with Meher and Sarabjeet.

Manav later falls in love with Aditi and marries her.

Who Killed Jagga?

Meher is initially blamed for Jagga’s death and serves time in prison.

Years later, the truth is uncovered.

Tarkash, the Gill family’s accountant, is revealed as Jagga’s real killer.

He had acted because of a past grudge against Meher.

Once Tarkash is exposed, Meher is finally cleared of the crime.

Some characters were recast during the series, while others were shown as children, teenagers and adults because The Braveheart uses major time jumps. This is why more than one actor may be listed for the same character.

The table focuses on recurring and supporting characters from the drama itself. Celebrity promotional appearances and crossover guests from other television programmes are not included.

Is The Braveheart Finished?

The original Indian production is finished.

Choti Sarrdaarni premiered in India in July 2019 and aired its final original episode in June 2022 after 810 episodes.

International broadcasters can still air or repeat the programme later, which is why viewers in some countries may still be watching storylines that originally aired several years earlier.

The Braveheart Ending Explained

The Braveheart ultimately ends where its central theme began: with a woman’s right to choose the life and person she wants.

At the beginning, Kulwant destroys Meher and Manav’s relationship because she believes she has the authority to decide who her daughter should marry.

The consequences of that decision shape years of family tragedy.

By the finale, Kulwant faces a similar choice with Mannat.

This time she eventually gives in.

Mannat is allowed to marry Zorawar, and the family comes together instead of being torn apart.

Meher and Sarabjeet are no longer alive, but the final family photograph beside their portrait makes it clear that their story remains the emotional foundation of everything that follows.

The Braveheart therefore does not end simply with a wedding.

It ends with the family finally learning one of the lessons Meher spent her life fighting for: love cannot survive when family honour is used as an excuse to control people’s choices.
