October at a Glance
October keeps Phiwe at the centre of the action as her investigation becomes more complicated. A missing consignment, problems involving the Mngunis and her decision to keep digging on her own gradually pull her towards a much bigger concern in Shonalanga.
That concern becomes clearer in the second half of the month when Phiwe suspects a rise in drug use. Another teenager dies, a young man overdoses at the Bakery, and Dlame eventually provides her with a possible lead on the person supplying the drugs.
The Mnguni family also faces pressure from several directions. The mill is struggling financially, DNA results arrive, and Muzi’s temper creates problems of its own.
